Named after George Frederick Kunz, who discovered it in Connecticut, USA in 1902, Kunzite is lilac-pink colored stone, which is colored by manganese. Kunzite is found in big crystals and has a perfect cleavage structure. Kunzite shows strong pleochroism, which is easily seen, showing body color and colorless when viewed from different directions.
