Aquamarine is a dichroic gemstone, which appears blue or colorless when the stone is viewed from different angles. Aquamarine is often cut with the table facet parallel to the length in order to emphasize the deepest color. The best quality is found in Brazil. Other locations include Russia, Afghanistan, India, Pakistan and most recently in Nigeria. Aquamarine in dark blue color comes from Madagascar.
