MALACHITE
When malachite is cut it shows layers of lighter and darker concentric rings, parallel lines, or different shapes due to its shell-like formation. Malachite is generally found in opaque green masses and the color is because of the copper content present in it. Malachite occurs in rounded nodules, grape shapes, stalactites and sometimes in encrusted slabs. The major producer of malachite is Zaire. Some additional deposits are in Chile, Australia, Arizona (USA) and South Africa.
