CITRINE QUARTZ

Citrine has got its name due to its lemonish yellow color which is present due to the iron contents present in it. A big majority of citrine for commercial purpose is the heat treated amethyst. All heat-treated stones have a red tone whereas the natural citrine is pale yellow and this natural citrine is rare. Heat treated citrine doesn’t show any pleochroism in comparison to the natural citrine, which has a weak pleochroism. Top quality citrine comes from Brazil, Madagascar, Spain and the former USSR.
